TOBOH CAPACITY BUILDING

Are we reaching the right people?

Are there other services that we should be providing?

How can we do more?

These are some of the big questions that we are asking at The Olive Branch of Hope (TOBOH). Thanks to funding from Tropicana Community Services through the Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative (SBCCI) we are able to invite you to help us get answers to these questions.

Our partners at Twenty One Fourteen Consultancy Services (2114 Consultancy) are leading us to reach out to our community and beyond. The goal is achieved through a capacity-building project and a series of (4) in-person consultations and (4) virtual focus groups.

When our community sets our priorities and asks us where to focus, then we can decide what we are best able to do and where we need to partner with other organizations to fill the gaps. Based on this information, we will then design our strategic plan around a more targeted approach to meeting the identified needs of our community.

We invite you to participate in this ground breaking work as a national non-profit organization that focuses entirely on supporting Black Women dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and life afterward.  Our research partners McMaster University are getting to the deep-rooted causes of why Black women are more prone to develop Triple Negative Breast Cancer. While the research goes on, we want to be a better help for Black women to meet their day-to-day needs.

You are invited to participate in one of two ways:

1. Join in-person consultation

Join us for these in-person consultations, where we focus on having conversations to find the best ways to support different women and their caretakers, followed up with some refreshments in Ajax, Scarborough, Mississauga, or Toronto.

2. Join a virtual focus group

Register here for a virtual focus group where we will ask you specific questions to help us identify the gaps in our service delivery and highlight the community needs which remain unmet. Now be sure to invite your friends to register as well. The more perspectives we have, the better. We need your help to make that happen.

ONE DREAM WALK OF HOPE

We also invite you to sign up for our 2022 “One Dream Walk of Hope” Walkathon event.

Let’s walk together to promote breast cancer awareness, be a support to the women diagnosed with breast cancer and raise money for research.

Your single step can help them overcome cancer.
