Will I ever look and feel NORMAL again?
It will take time for your body to heal. You have been through a great deal. Be patient with yourself.
You will soon feel stronger and want to get back to your regular routine, but for some it takes longer than others. Don't set unrealistic goals. Your time to feel better is individual.
Your treatment related side effects lessen as time goes on. If you experienced hair loss, your hair will begin to grow back. Your hair may not be the same as it was before cancer treatment.
Skin changes will begin to return to what you consider normal.
You may have changes in your weight as a result of your treatment. Regular exercise and healthy eating habits may help your weight return to normal, or you may have a "new normal".
A visit to the "Look Good Feel Better" Program, or skin care specialist (esthetician) may help to improve how you look and feel.
If treatment for cancer has changed how your body looks, you may wish to discuss options (medications, cosmetic surgery, prosthesis) with a member of your health care team.
Cancer is a life event.
It is important to find a way to be happy with yourself and to life a fulfilling life.
